These skills have been learned over a professional lifetime.  Ruth has a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology and is a qualified teacher.  She has qualifications in Hypnotherapy, Stress Management, Coaching for Business, Corporate Psychology and Reiki.  In 2002, Ruth was awarded an Honorary Fellowship at Brunel University for her work with young people as a Principal Youth Officer and trainer.She is the Chair of the Centre for Youth Work Studies at Brunel for whom she remains an associate tutor. In 2008, she became one of five UK Master Facilitators for Franklin Covey Europe to deliver "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teenagers" to license adults working with young people to deliver this accredited programme.She is a trainer and Assessor for Richmond College for NVQ's in youth work.

Ruth is registered with the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council , The International Stress Management Association  ( she is an approved Stress Adviser for annual Stress Awareness Days), The Institute for Learners and The Coaching Academy .She is  past Chairperson of The National Association of Youth and Community Education Officers, Vice chair of YMCA London South West and is a Board member of YMCA Training.
