CONFIDENCE TIPS
DRESS TO IMPRESS
- If you look good, you will feel good. Shoulders back and walk tall
WHEN IN DOUBT - LEAVE IT OUT!
- If you are not sure about something or someone - trust your instincts or seek advice - it may stop you making a mistake
DEEP BREATHING
- When you are nervous or lack confidence in any given situation, there is a tendancy to take fast, shallow breaths.
This inhibits the oxygen to your body and brain so you become shaky and cannot think straight.
Take a few deep breaths and you will feel and be a lot more in control.
EXERCISE
- Stretch all those muscles, walk around or jump on the spot to release tension and stimulate the level of endorphins,
which is the body’s " feel good" hormone which makes you feel better about yourself
TAKE FIVE
-Take five minutes to walk in the garden or the park - what do you see? Focus on the air, the sky, the leaves on the trees,
the breeze, birds and insects. We live in a beautiful world - enjoy being alive!
REMEMBER
- When you felt really good about yourself and recapure those feelings and hold onto them when you do not feel quite so sure about yourself. You cannot think positive thoughts at the same time as negative ones so make sure the positives are stronger!
VISUALISE
or rehearse the situations where you want to be confident - over and over again. See yourself doing and being what you want to do and be so that when the time comes, your mind feels secure and confident having practiced so often and you will be relaxed, calm and in completre control!
FOCUS
- on your strengths not your weaknesses
STOP
- Negative self talk with positive affirmations or a distraction to break the pattern
