These skills have been learned over a professional lifetime. Ruth has a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology and is a qualified teacher. She has qualifications in Hypnotherapy, Emotional Freedom Technique, EMDR ( Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing!) Stress Management, Coaching for Business, Corporate Psychology and Reiki.
In 2002, Ruth was awarded an Honorary Fellowship at Brunel University for her work with young people as a Principal Youth Officer and trainer. She was the Chair of the Centre for Youth Work Studies at Brunel for twelve years and from 2008- 2012 she was one of five UK Master Facilitators for Franklin Covey Europe to deliver “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teenagers” to license adults working with young people to deliver this programme. She is a recognised Trainer and Assessor for youth work training qualifications at level 2 and 3.
Ruth is registered with the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council, is a Fellow of The International Stress Management Association ( she is an approved Stress Adviser for annual Stress Awareness Days), The CNHC ( Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council) and The Coaching Academy. She is past Chairperson of The National Association of Youth and Community Education Officers, Vice-chair of YMCA London South West and was a national Board member of YMCA Training until December 2013.
She is married with two sons and has DBS clearance to work with children and young people.
